Personal data from internet users accessing our platform is processed according to two data protection Acts. Both Acts seek to protect the personality and fundamental rights of those individuals about whom data is processed.

On the one hand, data is processed according to the Data Protection Act of Liechtenstein from 14 March 2002. The Act implements the EU Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (“EU Data Protection Directive”, the Directive).

Association repowermap.eu commits - as a charitable non-profit association founded in Liechtenstein - to protect your privacy and your personal data and to process data in accordance with the related legal provisions.

On the other hand, the personal data is also processed according to the Data Protection Act of Switzerland from 19 January 1992.

Association repowermap.org commits as a charitable non-profit association founded in Switzerland to protect your privacy and your personal data and to process data in accordance with the related legal provisions.

Association repowermap.eu takes care of and is the contact point for data from users from the EU or the EEA. Association repowermap.org takes care of and is the contact point for data from users from other countries. Both Association repowermap.eu and Association repowermap.org also respect the EU's General Data Protection Regulation.

Personal data within this context is all information relating to an identified or identifiable person. In relation to internet platforms as this one, this comprises for example names, e-mail addresses and under certain circumstances also IP addresses.

This policy notice sets out the main principles and the basis on which any of your personal data will be processed. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it. We keep certain basic information when you visit our website and recognise the importance of keeping that information secure and letting you know what we will do with it.

We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.
2. Which personal data is processed and what is the purpose of processing?
Web services from third parties

On this internet platform web services from the following third parties are used:

On our platform plugins from the social Network Facebook are integrated. The Facebook plugins can be recognized by their Facebook logo or the “Like-Button” and the “Share-Button” on this platform. When you visit our platform, through the plugins a direct connection is established between your browser and the Facebook-Server. Facebook gets information about the use of the platform by you. One of the measures you can take that may prevent Facebook from getting related information, is to log out from your Facebook account before accessing this platform.

On our platform web services from Twitter are included. The Twitter plugins allow you to share information on this platform with the Twitter community. When you visit our platform, through the plugins a direct connection is established between your browser and the Twitter-Server. Twitter gets information about the use of the platform by you. Standard server logs created automatically

We investigate the use of our internet platform and track access and usage data on it. While doing this, we apply the principle of reducing the amount of data gathered; we only gather data that is needed for security reasons, for carrying out the initiative and for improving the platform. As soon as you access the internet platform, we register the IP address, the time stamp, the country of origin, the page accessed, and, if you were directed to the platform through a link, the website previously visited. In addition, we register the user-agent, which means the type of web browser or other software that was used to access the platform. Furthermore, when you interact with the platform, we keep track of some of the related activities on it to ensure a proper and secure functioning of the platform and contribute to its development. For example, when you add information to the map or edit information, your IP address and the time stamp is recorded in connection with the change.

The evaluations made based on the related data are not published except at an aggregated level. We do not pass on the related data to third parties, unless we are obliged to do so by law.

We do not gather or store in a standardized way other personal data automatically for every internet user accessing the platform.

Data added by you on the platform

Information related to your e-mail address and your name that you provide when adding information to the map or when registering for a confirmation code are treated confidentially and are used exclusively for carrying out this initiative to promote renewable energies and energy efficiency.

The processing of the related data is based on your consent that you give by providing the related contact information.

The purpose and the objective of this initiative is to promote the use of renewable energies and energy efficiency to make a contribution to climate protection, to a secure energy system and to sustainable development. The initiative intends to motivate people to use renewable energies and energy efficiency. To this objective, those who have already installed a renewable energy system or who have made their building energy efficient, can make their examples visible on this map. If you are among them, you are invited to include your example to the map. Furthermore, it is intended that the information shown on the map contributes to information exchange, at local level and across borders.

The information that you add on the platform and which are intended to be published can be seen by anyone, in agreement with the purpose of the initiative.

The indication of your name and your e-mail address when adding information serves to give administrators the possibility to contact you if needed and to provide you information related to the carrying out of the initiative. As it is the case for the information that you publish yourself on the map, the additional information gathered for checks on data quality, for sending you information for carrying out the initiative and for developing the platform further have exclusively a charitable purpose.

3. Where and how long is personal data stored?
Your data is stored in a protected and secure environment in a data centre in Switzerland. The access is restricted, sensitive data is transmitted through a secure connection and our staff is trained with respect to data protection.

We store your data only as long as necessary for the purposes of this initiative, and are deleted subsequently. In principle, the data obtained in connection with establishing user statistics is deleted after a fixed period of ten years. Data processed in connection with data you add or edit on the internet platform are planned to be archived for the entire period during which this initiative is carried out; this is necessary to ensure the security and quality of the platform and to be able to understand if necessary retrospectively changes made by users.
4. Who has access to the personal data?
With respect to the Data Protection Act of Liechtenstein and the EU Data Protection Directive the controller of the data is Association repowermap.eu, In der Blacha 63, 9498 Planken, registered with number FL-0002.348.056-7.

With respect to the Data Protection Act of Switzerland the controller is Association repowermap.org, Neufeldstr. 21, 3012 Bern. This association has also subsidiary controller functions with respect to the Data Protection Act of Liechtenstein and the EU Data Protection Directive.

Several organisations and a network of administrators are participating in the repowermap.org initiative. Depending on their function within the initiative, they have differentiated access rights to personal data. As a rule, only authorized administrators identifying themselves with a user ID and a password have access to personal data.

To the automatically generated standard web server logs specially trained staff members of the Association repowermap.org and the Association repowermap.eu have access. In addition, companies with a specific mandate to provide services related to the maintenance of the web servers may access the data. These companies are obliged to respect the confidentiality of the data.

Data added by you can be accessed by staff members of the Assocations mentioned, as well as, differentiated according to their functions in the initiative, cooperating organisations and administrators of the repowermap.org initiative. They may use that information, to check the quality of the data on the map, to keep the quality of the platform high and to ensure the functioning of the platform.

When you add data to the map through a form that is integrated on another organisation’s website, that organisation has also access to the related information. The data processing by that organisation is then governed by the Privacy Policy of the organisations on which you are when you add information.

The personal data are not passed on to any other third party. In particular, they are not used at all for any commercial activity.
6. What rights do you have?
Your personal data will be processed in conformity with the rules indicated in this Privacy Policy.

You have the right to access the personal data held about you and the right to ask for correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal data and to ask for deletion. You also have the right to object partially or completely to the processing of data or to revoke your agreement to such processing. Data which cannot be deleted is data required for the security of the internet platform. Any access request may be subject to a fee to meet our costs in processing your request.
7. How can you contact us related to privacy policy?
We have appointed a legal expert as data protection officer to ensure that the processing is carried out in compliance with data protection principles and rules and to ensure that the rights and freedoms of data subjects are protected. The data protection officer is in a position to exercise his functions in complete independence.
